OUR PROGRAM IS AN ENTRY-LEVEL 8 WEEK CERTIFICATION 1 Day a week or Week-end consecutive sessions attendance to Become an Entry Level Dental Assistant – There is study prior to attendance online delivery of digital lectures, videos, and textbook home study. Attendance to the facility will be a total of eight (8) sessions with 7 hour days consisting of comprehensive technical and practical applications, hands-on lab dental assisting procedures and lecture review with testing each day. T0 complete the Certification you must complete 55 hrs externship in a dental practice, you can arrange according to your schedule during the program or after the program. ( during the program is preferred as the majority of our students are hired even before they graduate at their externship sites. Upon completion of 119 hours, you will receive an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, EFDA Certificate including Radiology. and CPR, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, AHA,CPR Training along with your resume to submit to your future dental office home.
Upon completion of the Florida Department of Health approved program students will receive Expanded Functions Dental Assistant and Radiology certification recognized by the state of Florida.
You will be required to wear DAAPB school Uniform scrub top/pants during classes and externship, this portrays professionalism and is a reflection on you and our school.
*** You may take radiography with the supervision of Florida licensed dentist , performing radiography for minimum (3) months and you can apply for the one (1)day certification. You will have one (1) year to acquire the radiography license with proof of employment and EFDA OR Radiography Certificate.
Your license never expires nor does your EFDA, Expanded Functions Dental Assistants Certification or Radiograph Certificate.
- DA 101- Dental Theory Introduction
Role and responsibilities of a dental assistant. facial and dental anatomy,tooth identification, tooth charting and basic cavity classification.
- DA 102- Sterilization and OSHA
Disease transmission and the role of proper sterilization techniques as well as cleaning and maintaining dental equipment,treatment rooms, instruments. OSHA training.
- DA 103- Radiology Safety and Training
Students are prepared for the Florida Dental Radiography Certification by learning and practicing proper radiographic positioning. Techniques shown for Digital radiographs and radiology safety for patient and operator.
- DA 104- Chair side Assisting
Four handed dentistry and positioning of operator, assistant and patient during treatment. Learning Isolation and retraction and suction techniques. While learning about various restorative procedures. Students take midterm at end of the day.
- DA 105- Restorations and Impressions
Restorative procedures and materials are discussed. The importance of matrix bands for restorations. Students learn to sit chair side as assistants during restorative procedures, as well as different Impressions and materials and why needed.
- DA 106- Patient Exam, Preventive care,Emergencies
Various Examinations in Dentistry importance of medical history.Record taking including Pulse and blood pressure. Students learn about medical emergencies and how to respond. Students receive CPR, First Aid and AED training and Certification.
- DA 107- Crown and Bridge Perio, Endo
Students learn about certain specialty fields in Dentistry. th difference between fixed and removable prosthetics, periodontal procedures and root canals. They learn to fabricate a temporary crown, place period dressing and place a rubber dam.
- DA 108- Oral Surgery, Pedo and Ortho
Students learn about specialty fields of Dentistry and how to assist in basic surgical procedures, basic ortho procedures. Resume and Interview skills are reviewed. Students take the final exam. Discuss Professionalism in the dental field and Interview skills. Students build a resume and role play for interviews.
